Biography
Born
and raised in Atlanta, Kevin McCoy developed a love for storytelling
at an early age. An avid
reader from
his youth, it wasn’t long before he was telling tales of
his own. In high school, Kevin wrote short stories—including
one published in his high school yearbook—and made his
first foray into filmmaking with a science fiction short that
he wrote and directed, a project that would garner him his first
media award.
While in college, Kevin delved deeper into the world of filmmaking
by writing and directing a variety of 16mm film and video projects.
He also co-founded a campus film club that produced several films
during his tenure as co-president.
A few years later, Kevin returned to
school to earn a master's degree in film. While attending film
school, where he worked
on more than a dozen film and music video projects—including
two videos produced for Benson Records—Kevin wrote and
directed The Dark Letter, an award-winning short film comedy.
Some of Kevin’s other accomplishments
include two teleplays that he co-wrote with a couple of film
school buddies, as well
as several articles that he wrote for Back To One, an Atlanta-based
magazine covering the film industry. At present, Kevin is working
on a number of projects, including another teleplay, a DVD of
The Dark Letter, and the screenplay for his feature film debut.
